Warzone Ranked Resurgence - A disappointing start on Fortune's Keep

New season, new disappointments: Warzone's Ranked Rewards fall short

With the start of the second season of Warzone, fans of the popular Call of Duty Battle Royale are once again experiencing a highlight, especially with the return of Fortune's Keep. This map, known for its intense battles and strategic possibilities, not only receives a visual update but also becomes the setting for the new Warzone Ranked Resurgence mode, which finds its home on PS5 and Xbox. However, despite high expectations and anticipation for more intense fights, the reward system seems to be a big disappointment for many players.

The Catch with Ranked Rewards

Warzone's Ranked Resurgence mode follows the proven Resurgence gameplay principle, where players get a second chance to return to the game after being eliminated - provided their team is still in the game. This dynamic creates exciting twists and demands continuous top performance from players. Despite this interesting premise, the reward system is not well received.

According to official announcements, completing certain ranks in the Ranked Playlist mainly rewards cosmetic items such as operator skins, weapon charms, and emblems. The highlight is four new operator skins that are intended to reward players for their dedication and skills in the game. However, compared to the time and effort invested, the offer seems rather meager. With only one weapon skin for the advertised best weapons in Warzone and a handful of smaller cosmetics, the reward system falls short of expectations.

Unconvincing: The Detailed Reward Offering

  • Rank 5: Calling Card and "Sweat Buggy" vehicle skin
  • Rank 10: Calling Card and "On the Rise" animated emblem
  • Rank 15: Calling Card and "Carrying the Squad" weapon sticker
  • Rank 20: Calling Card and "Team Player" weapon charm
  • Rank 25: Calling Card and "GOAT" animated emblem
  • Rank 30: Calling Card and "WZ Ranked Play Rank 30" weapon camo
  • Rank 35: Calling Card and "WTB" weapon sticker
  • Rank 40: Calling Card and "Beamed" weapon decal
  • Rank 45: Calling Card and "You Tried" weapon charm
  • Rank 50: Calling Card, "WZ Ranked Veteran" animated emblem, and four operator skins

Despite the expansion of the offering compared to previous ranking modes, the additional cosmetic rewards don't seem to resonate with the community. In addition to these rewards, there are also skill division rewards, which also consist only of animated emblems and calling cards, and are therefore unlikely to generate much enthusiasm.

Conclusion: A Bitter Aftertaste

The introduction of Ranked Resurgence in Warzone marks an interesting step in the game's evolution, but it falls short in terms of rewards. While the return of Fortune's Keep and the map update are undoubtedly positive, the inadequate reward system is disappointing. Players looking for rewarding challenges and corresponding prizes may ultimately find themselves more satisfied in Warzone's traditional Battle Royale modes, where the gameplay and rewards may be more fulfilling.

Warzone's latest season shows that even with exciting map updates and the addition of ranked modes, the core - a convincing reward system - must not be neglected.
