Book of Travels fights for survival
The "Tiny MMO" known as Book of Travels had a promising start in 2021, but since then it has struggled to find an audience. Layoffs at developer Might and Delight followed, and although the team emphasized that work on the game would continue, it seemed to be slowly fading into obscurity.
But it seems that all hope is not lost. In August 2022, Might and Delight presented ambitious plans for the future of Book of Travels. In a recent Steam update, the studio announced that it is on the verge of releasing new gameplay content and expanding the world of Braided Shore.
New Content and Improvements
In a recent Steam update, Might and Delight stated: "We've put a lot of work into our backend, development tools, and overall game performance improvements. This work has finally allowed us to open up the path to Kasa and other new areas in Braided Shore." Since then, the studio has been working on updates such as a revamp of the combat system and the introduction of an in-game journal. These changes are intended to make the game more accessible without compromising its overall peaceful gameplay.
A Unique Game World
The world of Book of Travels is not designed to cater to players. Instead, it simply exists – much like the real world. The game has been described as "deliberately slow and often unclear," but in a positive way. The willingness of Book of Travels to try something truly different is what makes it so interesting, even if it requires a little effort to fully enjoy.
