Steel Division 2 is the sequel to the popular real-time strategy game from developer Eugen Systems. After the original release date was postponed several times, the new date is now June 20, 2019. Eugen Systems will distribute the game themselves this time and make it available on Steam, among other platforms.
The story of Steel Division 2 is based on real battles, vehicles and technology from World War II, just like its predecessor.
The focus is on Operation Bagration, which was the Soviet Union's offensive against the Third Reich that started on June 22, 1944. In addition to multiplayer with 10vs10 matches, there will be a singleplayer campaign in which you take on the role of a general. As the general, you must lead your troops into battle and win with tactics and skill. The locations are based on the Eastern Front of that time and bring a mix of history and suspense. Most of the battles are located in present-day Poland, Belarus and the Baltic states. This is reflected in the vegetation and buildings.
In addition to the usual ability to command various land and air units, there are also some technical innovations. With the help of new settings, micro-management has been reduced. There is the possibility, for example, to make the units only shoot from an accuracy of 40%. This way they don't give away their position so easily and the risk can be calculated much more clearly.
The command chain and the leading of entire armies on the continental map remain unchanged in the second part. So you have to work your way up the command structure before you can move and command whole battalions as a general of the army.
The whole logistics system of the series has also been extended and made more complex. So you always have to make sure that none of your units run out of supplies and are helplessly delivered to the enemy.
